Aaron John Barden to serve as page in the Senate

Aaron John Barden of Richmond will serve as a page in the Senate of Virginia during the 2009 session of the General Assembly. Aaron is the son of Mr. Mrs. John Barden and attends Monacan High School. He was appointed by the Clerk of the Senate.

Pages and messengers reported to Richmond for orientation on Sunday, Jan. 11 and serve until the session adjourns on Feb. 28. The duties of pages and messengers include running errands for the Senators and Clerk’s Office staff, collating and filing bills, and assisting committee clerks with meetings and recycling.

While in Richmond, pages and messengers are responsible for maintaining their schoolwork. A mandatory two-hour study session is provided on Monday through Thursday evenings.
