Friday, Feb. 3
The Bon Air Artists Association’s monthly meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Congregation Or Ami, located at 9400 Huguenot Rd., Richmond. Chuck Larivey, a businessman who changed his career path to one of an artist, will be the keynote speaker. Concerts for a Cause presents “Around the World in 60 Minutes,” featuring Irish Soprano Anne O’Byrne accompanied by David Fisk, at 7:30 p.m. at Salisbury Presbyterian Church, 13621 W. Monday, Feb. 6
Eligible taxpayers can receive free help preparing their 2011 income tax return — and potentially increase their refunds by claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit — at site hosted by MetroCASH and Powhatan County. The EITC is a refundable credit designed to help families and individuals who work and earn modest incomes — generally, families with children earning less than $49,078 and individuals without children earning less than $13,660. The benefit could provide a federal refund of $5,751 for families with three or more children and $464 for individuals. Trained volunteers will help eligible taxpayers prepare and file returns at 13 sites throughout the metropolitan area, including one in Powhatan County, Commissioner of Revenue Office, 3834 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 7
The Midlothian Garden Club meets the first Tuesday of every month at Bethel Baptist Church, 1100 Huguenot Springs Road at 10:30 a.m.  February’s meeting will feature Peggy Singlemann, Director of Horticulture at Maymont, who will give a power-point presentation titled “History of Maymont Gardens.”  Horticulture specimens and artistic floral designs will also be displayed by members. Refreshments will be served at noon. Wednesday, Feb. 8
The New Virginians (a club for women new to the Richmond area in the last two years) will have its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Stonehenge Country Club (1000 Farnham Dr., Richmond, VA 23236). The guest speaker for this luncheon is Paul Levengood, head of the Virginia Historical Society. The cost for the luncheon is $25. Prospective members are welcome. Thursday, Feb. 9
The Farnsworth Invention by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, A Few Good Men and The Social Network) will be presented by the Midlothian High School Theatre Department Feb. 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for Thursday and $10 for Friday and Saturday. Saturday, Feb. 11
Monacan Baseball Jr. Chiefs Baseball Camp to be held February 11, 15, 18, 22. Registration form available at www.monacansports.com. Varsity Baseball, Camps and Clinics. The Monacan Chiefs Baseball Program is proud to offer the 3rd Annual Baseball Camp for K-8th graders.  This camp will focus on the fundamentals of baseball that will allow each player to play at a higher level this upcoming season. Each player will enjoy 2 or 4 days of baseball instruction that will range from defensive play, hitting, and pitching. Camp instruction will focus on hitting, throwing, catching, base-running, and pitching by focusing on skill development and will integrate a variety of skill games as well. Whether you are a first year player or a returning All-Star, this camp will give you a jump start on the upcoming baseball season.

Monday, Feb. 13
Breath Matters, a free support group for people with lung diseases serving all of central Virginia, will meet at 1:30-3 p.m., at CJW Chippenham Campus, Bosher Auditorium, 7101 Jahnke Road. Friday, Feb. 24
READ Art Show and Sale Feb. 24-25, 2012. Over 100 local and regional artists exhibiting at and supporting The New Community School. Opening Reception to be held Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. $35/person, $40/at the door. Open free to the public: Also open Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10–5 p.m. (Sale from 2-5 p.m.). Proceeds from the Art Show and Sale support The New Community School which offers a unique college preparatory program for students with language learning differences in grades 6-12.

Saturday, Feb. 25
“Very Vegas,” to benefit the local Children’s Miracle Network, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, will be presented from 7-11 p.m. at the Downtown Richmond Marriott at 500 E.
