Judging begins for broadcast contest Courtesy of Tracey Taylor of Fox Richmond WRLH-TV MyTV Richmond WRLH-TV DT 2 WRLH-TV FOX Richmond/My TV Richmond, DMV-the Virginia Highway Safety Office and Loveland Distributing announce a panel of well-qualified judges with a variety of experience either in, or working with, the broadcast industry, for the second year of “Lights, Camera, Take Action: Stop Underage Drinking Now.” High school students from across the Richmond area had the opportunity to produce their own community service message speaking out against underage drinking, for a chance to have their PSA featured in the NFC Championship Game, American Idol, and the Daytona 500 on FOX Richmond. The 60 Richmond high school students that entered have the opportunity to win an Apple iPod Touch digital player, a Sony HD camcorder, and an Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 software package! The judges include Mary Ann Rayment from DMV-the Virginia Highway Safety Office, Brendan Fitzpatrick from Loveland Distributing Company, Heidi Trockman from the Ad Council, Virginia Bertholet from Virginia Commonwealth University and Brent Hardy from WRLH-TV FOX Richmond/My TV Richmond. Mary Ann Rayment, is the Occupant Protection/Media Coordinator for DMV: The Virginia Highway Safety Office. She coordinates state wide programs such as Click It or Ticket, the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers and Motorcycle 411. Prior to working for the Highway Safety Office, Rayment was in radio where she embraced many roles including Music Director, Promotion/Event Manager and co-host of the morning show. Brendan Fitzpatrick is the Marketing /Special Events Director at Loveland Distributing Company. Fitzpatrick works closely with local TV, Radio and print publications to promote responsible drinking on behalf of the Loveland brand. He holds a degree in Marketing Management from Western Carolina University. Heidi Trockman is the Managing Director for Ad Council’s Northeastern Region. Trockman engages the local media in nine media markets, increasing exposure to Ad Council’s public service campaigns. She advocates on behalf of Ad Council’s sponsors to generate donated media by connecting with industry associations, advertising clubs, local nonprofits and community leaders. Trockman graduated Cum Laude from Boston College with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Fine Arts. Virginia Bertholet is the owner and creative producer of Cause Content, a virtual marketing collective of advertising and production professionals that helps both non-profit and for-profit companies define, create and produce specific cause or social marketing messages. Brent Hardy is a Commercial Producer for FOX Richmond WRLH and MyTV Richmond WRLH-2. He has worked on a wide range of commercial and corporate video campaigns for local, regional and national level clients including the District Attorney’s Office, Genworth Foundation, DMV-The Virginia Highway Safety Office and Loveland Distributing Company. Hardy has a B.S. Degree in Media Art and Design from James Madison University and was the creative force behind the 2008 Lights, Camera, Take Action on-air concept. This talented panel will judge all PSA entries for the “Lights, Camera, Take Action” contest on Thursday, Dec. 4 starting at 9 a.m. The judges will score each student’s 20-second video submission on overall impact, originality and cinematic style to determine the TOP-4 finalists. The TOP 4 entries will then air on WRLH FOX Richmond and MyTV Richmond from Dec. 8 through Jan. 15. During this period, the public will be encouraged to vote for their favorite community service message at foxrichmond.com. Votes will be tallied on January 16, 2009 and the winning entry will be announced during the NFC Championship Game January 18, 2009 on FOX Richmond.
