Duane K. Hope, 23, of the 1500 block of Jennie Scher Road in Richmond, has been arrested in connection with a robbery and shooting incident that occurred in the 5700 block of Meadowbrook shopping plaza at about 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 25.

Police said a Richmond Sheriff’s deputy exited a restaurant and walked to his vehicle when he was approached by three male suspects who displayed a gun and demanded money. The suspects forced the victim to a nearby business and ordered the victim to turn and walk away. The deputy turned and fired several shots toward the suspects who returned fire. The suspects then fled the area. An unoccupied vehicle was struck by gunfire, but no one was injured.

Hope is charged with robbery, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held in the Chesterfield County Jail pending an upcoming hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court.
