The sun came finally out on Tuesday, May 12, and Millwood School’s middle schools students were thrilled. They had been waiting for favorable weather for the annual Solar Car Race.

The designing and building of solar cars is part of the middle school curriculum.  Students learn about energy, electricity, physics, and engineering.  The students either work on a car individually or work cooperatively on a team.

The six fastest cars will be represented at the state race on Saturday,  May 30, at the Science Museum of Virginia.  Over the past decade, Millwood School’s solar cars have placed quite well in the state competition.
