Team places third in national competition Published: July 29, 2010 courtesy Chesterfield County Police Department The Chesterfield County Police Department’s Law Enforcement Explorer Post 609 placed third in the shoot/don’t shoot competition at the 2010 National Law Enforcement Explorer conference at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga. The explorers are comprised of young men and women from 14-21 who are interested in future law enforcement or criminal justice careers. More than 2,000 explorers from across the nation competed in both team and individual events during the week-long conference from July 19-24. Attendees come together bi-annually for competitions, demonstrations, seminars and exhibits. Five members of Chesterfield Law Enforcement Explorer Post 609 attended and competed in this year’s event. They trained for more than a year in law enforcement skills including burglary in progress, traffic accident investigation, traffic stop, white-collar crime, arrest and search, bomb threat response, crime scene search, hostage negotiation, shoot/don’t shoot and emergency field first aid and drill team.
