TURNER, Robert Virginius Published: October 20, 2009 TURNER, Robert Virginius, 87, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite T. Turner. He is survived by his sons, Dr. John William Turner and Robert Taylor Turner, and their wives, Moira and Carol; grandchildren, Allison, Jonathan, Taylor, Morgan and Kendra; great-grandchildren, Logan and Lindsay Garrison. Dr. Turner was a retired educator who served as Assistant State Superintendent of Education, and was known as the “Father of Gifted Education” in Virginia. He was Worshipful Master of the Woodland Heights Masonic Lodge #345. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte. 10). A committal will be held 11 a.m. Friday, at The Mausoleum, Forest Lawn Cemetery, with Masonic rites. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Gilboa Christian Church, 678 Jefferson Hwy. (Rte. 33 and 522), Mineral, Va. 23117, (540) 894-5620. |
