Cushing, Robert Mayhew
Published: December 27, 2009

CUSHING, Robert Mayhew, 28, died peacefully December 21, 2009 with his parents at his side. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Don Cushing and Robert Keating; and his younger sister, Lindsey Blair Cushing. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Gale Cushing; his grandmothers, Marjorie Cushing and Mary Lorma Keating, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Robbie graduated from James River High School in 2000 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the College of Charleston in 2004. During his brief career, Robbie held several IT positions, the last being lead developer for Brilliance, LLC in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was especially proud of the many long and hard hours he put into the new Brilliance.com web site, set to launch very soon.

Robbie loved his family very much and was very close to his sister. After Lindsey died in February, Robbie found the job in Florida. He loved his new work and Palm Beach and felt he had truly found his niche when he suffered a fatal stroke. He will be missed by many here on earth, but we are comforted in knowing he is now in heaven with his sister.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday, December 29 at 11 a.m. at Bon Air United Methodist Church. Private interment at Hollywood Cemetery will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert Cushing Memorial Fund. Checks should be made payable to Bon Air United Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Road, Richmond, Va. 23235.
