Denny Hamlin, driver of the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, is making his way back home to Southside Speedway in on April 29th to race in the third annual Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown to benefit the Denny Hamlin Foundation.

This year’s race will be a Late Model Stock Car race featuring fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup stars Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Tony Stewart, and Denny’s race day spotter Curtis Markham racing alongside Hamlin for 250 laps. The race will also feature the best of the best from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and the United Auto Racing Association Series (UARA) along with a few surprise guests.

Last year the Denny Hamlin Foundation raised over $100,000 at the event, and this year the foundation hopes to grow the fundraising.

“I’m excited to come back again this year with Kyle, Joey, Tony and Curtis to race. This year we’ve decided to turn it into a Late Model Stock Car race against some of the top drivers in that series,” Hamlin said. “I can’t say how thankful I am that these guys come back each year to help me raise money for my foundation. I’ve also extended the invite to a few other friends from the Cup series, so stay tuned.”

The Denny Hamlin Foundation was created in 2008 to aid in raising awareness and funding for Cystic Fibrosis research and treatment, as well as to support other not-for-profit corporations that focus on aiding children with debilitating illnesses.

Online ticket sales are now in progress at dennyhamlinfoundation.org. All proceeds from ticket sales, an online auction and raffles will benefit the Denny Hamlin Foundation.
