| Kickers to host pro soccer tryouts Published: November 18, 2009 Content courtesy of the Richmond Kickers The 2009 USL Second Division Champions, Richmond Kickers, will host the 12th annual Player Combine for eligible college seniors, qualified free agents and talented amateur players that are seeking a professional contract. The weekend is set for February 19-21, 2010 at the Richmond Kickers state-of-the-art facility, Ukrop Park. “We receive hundreds of requests each year for players to tryout for the Richmond Kickers,” head coach Leigh Cowlishaw said. “This combine is the most effective way for those players to have an opportunity to impress the Kickers coaching staff and secure a professional contract.” A selected number of applicants will be invited to participate in three days of intense training and scrimmages beginning with an evening session on Friday, Feb. 19. The application cost is $99 and does not include travel, hotel room nights or meals. Recommended lodging will be posted via RichmondKickers.com in the near future. Past Kickers trials have produced such prominent players as Clyde Simms (D.C. United and US Men’s National Team), Ronnie Pascale (three-time USL-2 Goalkeeper of the Year), Tim Brown (New Zealand National Team) and Robert Ssejjemba (2006 USL-2 MVP and Ugandan National Team). Interested candidates should visit the Kickers’ Web site to register. Applications and payment must be received prior to Feb. 1. Please note that space is limited.
