It’s that time of year when bargain hunters hit the shopping malls for holiday gifts. Skip the lines and get your NASCAR tickets at Richmond International Raceway on Green Flag Saturday—Dec. 6. Tickets for the Crown Royal Presents the Your Name Here 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race go on sale Saturday, Dec. 6, and are available online at www.rir.com, by calling the ticket office at 866-455-RACE (7223) or visiting the ticket office at 600 E. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23222. All seats are reserved and tickets start at $60.

Last year’s Crown Royal Presents the Your Name Here 400 race featured some of the most memorable moments in Richmond International Raceway history. First, it looked as though Chesterfield native Denny Hamlin was on his way to capturing his first hometown win in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition.

Hamlin led 381 of the first 382 laps of the race and only needed to make it 18 more laps to capture the checkered flag. Unfortunately, a flat tire ended his hopes of sweeping the weekend at America’s Premier Short Track—Hamlin won the Lipton Tea 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race the previous night.

With Hamlin fading to the back, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took over the lead on Lap 383 and seemed to be on his way to his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory since he won the inaugural Crown Royal 400 in 2006. But on Lap 397, Earnhardt Jr. made contact with Kyle Busch going into Turn Four, ending both drivers’ hopes of winning. Whether it was Junior’s fault or Busch’s fault, it didn’t matter to Clint Bowyer, who took over to lead Lap 398 until the checkered flag waved.

That’s the kind of excitement and drama you can expect at Richmond International Raceway when the 2009 Crown Royal Presents the Your Name Here 400 drops the green flag on Saturday, May 2, under the lights.

On Saturday, Dec. 6, reserved seats will also go on sale for the Friday, May 1, Lipton Tea 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race. Reserved seats are $45 in advance.

The weekend begins with a full day of on-track activity on Friday, May 1, including practice and Wawa Pole Qualifying for the Sprint Cup Series, practice and pole qualifying for the Nationwide Series and the Lipton Tea 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race under the lights. General admission tickets for Friday, which are $35 in advance, are on sale now. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult in general admission sections on Friday only.
