![]() Aug 30, 2010 Courtesy of Julie Grimes Caitlin Schoemmell and Alia Fagerburg recently competed at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships in Clemson, S.C. The two represented Classic Equestrians 4-H, led by Gaynor Hay and Andrea Gerhard. The 4-H club meets at GaDa Dream Stables. The girls were among only 50 Virginians competing against 4-H members from 13 states. Caitlin and Alia were the only two entries from any Chesterfield County 4-H groups. The championships were held July 28-Aug. 1… Continue » Adult sports league forming Aug 19, 2010 Courtesy of Kelly Thompson/Chesterfield County In July 2010 Chesterfield Parks and Recreation cut adult athletic funding due to the budget shortfall. Since that time a new cosponsored organization has formed called Chesterfield Adult Sports. The president, Mike Coleman, has worked with the Chesterfield leagues for over 25 years. He is a newly retired Chesterfield County Physical Education teacher. They qualified to play in the sectionals’ tournament being held in Fredericksburg on Aug.13 and will be competing against teams from the Mid-Atlantic region. Football players ages 8 and up took part in drills and skills training. Clover Hill alumni showed up to add their collegiate training knowledge. The team (pictured left to right) of Davis Tarkenton, Meghan Burton, Caroline Henry and Patrick Groh set new records in the 200-meter freestyle and medley relays. Patrick Groh also set individual records in the 50-meter backstroke and the 50-yard butterfly. Approximately 150 kids attended the camp. Urso had his photo taken with former Steelers’ players Jason Gildon and Craig Wolfley. He also received a trophy and a football autographed by Hines Ward. Continue »(K)-9K to benefit RAL Aug 11, 2010 Content courtesy of Bill Lis The (K)-9K and Kids Fun Run will take place at RunnerBill’s Sports on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. The event is a 9K run on roads and trails with some hills. The run starts and finishes at RunnerBill’s Sports at 13569 Midlothian Turnpike. Awards will be given for the top three overall male and female runners, plus the top three in each age division.
